Ruby

During a severe weather outbreak across Georgia, many counties experienced tornadoes and severe wind that left a lot of damage. During one tornado, Ruby, 96, was sitting in her lift chair looking out the window when a tornado struck a portion of her house in Butler, Georgia. Thankfully, all of the shattered glass missed her, but it struck her chair and pierced the walls of her home.

Ruby’s house was significantly damaged. The Red Cross’ Emergency Services program, which receives funding from United Way, assisted in her recovery. The Red Cross was able to help her pay for the one thing her insurance would not completely cover – her lift chair. Marie and Ruby are “very thankful for the Red Cross and their continued care.”
