Best Practices

Headlines in League Gothic Regular typeface should be written in all caps. Punctuation should be included in all headlines. Impact is an acceptable substitute for League Gothic Regular.

Sub headlines in Roboto-Bold typeface should be written in sentence case when using a complete sentence, and in title case when not a complete sentence. Arial Bold is an acceptable substitute for Roboto-Bold.

Roboto Regular is the body typeface. It should be used for supportive messaging. Arial is an acceptable substitute for Roboto Regular.

In all communications, we should ask ourselves:

  • Is the message clear, simple and straightforward?
  • Is the message tailored to a specific audience?
  • Does the message inspire emotion and action?

Is the message clear, simple, and straightforward? Long messages are less effective. Always try to be concise and avoid jargon. Collective and active messaging is most effective:

  • IMPROVE Health.
  • EXPAND Education.
  • GROW Livelihoods.
  • ADDRESS Essential Needs.

Is the message tailored to a specific audience? Audiences want a clear pathway to impact. We should tailor messaging according to each organization’s values and meet them where they are.

  • Example: Use Economic Mobility messaging with organizations who practice CSR around financial stability and housing assistance.

Does the message inspire emotion and action? Love and inspiration are two key drivers for action. A call to action (CTA) in communications is intended to inspire and direct action. The language used in a CTA must clearly and simply communicate a specific action that should be taken:

  • Get Involved
  • Learn More
  • GIVE. ADVOCATE. VOLUNTEER.
  • Let’s do something about it.
