israel“I am so blessed and thankful for what has taken place in the life of my grandson, Israel. He started attending the afterschool program at The Salvation Army about two-and-a-half years ago. The program started out as a place for Israel to be until his mother could pick him up when she got off work, but being there turned into so much more. The Salvation Army is a safe haven for kids, not just my grandson but for every boy and girl that goes there. When Israel started the afterschool program, he wasn’t a very good reader and struggled with math. Now, thanks to staff members that helped him, he has improved TREMENDOUSLY. His reading improved so much that Iz was selected to read at a school assembly, and he went from an ‘F’ to a ‘B’ and sometimes ‘A’ in math! Because of the people and staff at The Salvation Army, he has learned to work through and overcomes his failures. They saw a child that needed help and they dedicated their time and talent to be that help.”
