Families of children with disabilities often face challenges finding high-quality therapeutic care. United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley supports programs like Easterseals West Georgia that provide specialized services. These programs help families work, attend school, and have respite, while ensuring their loved ones receive safe and effective care.

“O” joined Easterseals West Georgia at 18 months old. He was diagnosed with autism and had a history of seizures. When he started the program, he was nonverbal, avoided physical contact, and rarely interacted with other children. His family worried about his development and daily care.

How Easterseals Supports Children and Families

Easterseals provides individualized therapeutic care for children and adults with disabilities. Staff create fun, goal-oriented activities to help each participant grow. They track progress monthly and adjust goals to meet each person’s needs.

This care is unique in the region. Other childcare centers cannot provide the same specialized attention. Easterseals serves people of all ages and disabilities, giving families peace of mind.

“O”’s Progress and Achievements

With consistent support, “O” has made remarkable progress. He now initiates hugs, feeds himself, and joins playtime with other children. His verbal communication has improved. For example, he smiles and says “hello” when greeted. He is also showing growing interest in social interactions.

“O”‘s achievements reflect both his hard work and the dedication of the Easterseals staff. Each day he gains more confidence, develops stronger connections, and enjoys his environment.

Building a Healthy Community

United Way invests in programs like Easterseals because health and well-being are essential for all families. Access to therapeutic care allows children and adults to reach their potential.

Through programs like this, families can work, attend school, and take time for themselves, knowing their loved ones are safe and supported. Easterseals’ work aligns with United Way’s Healthy Community impact area, which focuses on improving health and well-being for everyone.
