A GED Program in Columbus, GA Opens New Doors
The GED Program offered through Goodwill’s BRIDGE Program gave one determined student the opportunity to earn her diploma, prepare for a career, and build a stronger future for herself and her family.
When Kayla enrolled, she had a clear goal: earn the diploma that would open new opportunities.
Like many adult learners, the path wasn’t simple. Her family was experiencing housing instability, reliable transportation was limited, and everyday necessities like food and professional clothing were difficult to come by. Despite those challenges, Kayla remained determined to continue her education and create a different future.
As a funded Community Investment partner of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers understands that education is only one piece of long-term success. Through the BRIDGE GED Program, participants receive individualized support that addresses the barriers that can stand between someone and their goals.
Kayla’s family was connected with emergency housing resources and food assistance, while the program provided professional clothing for interviews. Working alongside her case manager and employment specialist, she developed an education and career plan, built a résumé, and practiced interview skills while preparing for the GED exam.
With the encouragement of her family and the support of the BRIDGE team, Kayla attended classes consistently and stayed focused on her goals.
