United Way mobilizes communities to action so all can thrive.

We listen to local voices and focus on what matters most: health, youth opportunity, financial security, and community resiliency. Every dollar raised stays here, used strategically to meet our region’s greatest needs.

In partnership with donors, volunteers, and community leaders, we support programs that strengthen our community and deliver measurable results.

Together, we are working toward an opportunity-rich environment where all families are supported and every child can grow, graduate, and succeed.

Four Pillars
of Impact:

Pillar #1:

Healthy Community

Children can’t learn when they’re hungry, sick, or scared. That’s why we work with a network of local partners to remove barriers to health and wellness. In-school clinics with partners like Valley Healthcare make it easier for children to get care without parents missing work. Our 211 Call Center connects families to the region’s most comprehensive resource directory, from food and housing to healthcare and mental health support. We also support organizations like MercyMed, which provides affordable healthcare and fresh farm produce, Hope Harbour, offering emergency shelter, safety, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, and Children’s Tree House, providing trauma-informed services to help children overcome obstacles. Our goal is a community where children are healthy and ready to learn.

Pillar #2:

Youth Opportunity

From early childhood through high school and into the workforce, we partner with local organizations to break down barriers and create opportunities for learning, growth, and enrichment. Programs like The Basics support early brain development, while Community Schools United turns neighborhoods into hubs where schools, families, and partners work together to help students succeed. Afterschool and summer programs at partner agencies like the YMCA and Girls, Inc. provide safe, engaging spaces for children to learn and build skills, while one-on-one mentoring through Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Chattahoochee Valley helps them navigate challenges and reach their potential. Our goal is a community where every young person can grow, graduate, and succeed.

Pillar #3:

Financial Security

We partner with local organizations to remove barriers to financial stability by providing access to job training, career guidance, and safe, affordable housing. Workforce development programs help individuals gain the skills and opportunities they need for long-term independence, while short-term housing support ensures families have a safe place to live as they work toward stability. United Way’s Home for Good program helps families transitioning from homelessness with housing, case management, and access to essential resources. We work with partners such as Open Door Community House to offer rapid re-housing and short-term rental assistance, Southwest Georgia Housing Opportunities to help residents access quality, affordable housing, and Goodwill to provide job training and career support. Our goal is a community where every person has the opportunity to build a secure and stable future.

Pillar #4:

Community Resiliency

We work with our neighbors and local partners to improve access to health, education, and financial resources, providing guidance and compassionate support in times of need. Through our 211 Call Center, individuals and families can connect with safe housing, utility assistance, food and clothing, medical care, employment services, crisis support, and other essential resources. We also manage 211uwcv.org, a comprehensive resource hub that links people to local services, and collaborate with partners to ensure coordinated disaster response and recovery. Our goal is a community that is prepared, supported, and able to respond to challenges with resilience.

We invest in what works.

At United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley, every dollar raised stays here, and every investment is guided by the voices of our community. Each year, donations are pooled into the Community Investment Fund and carefully directed to programs that align with our strategic impact areas.

Every investment follows a thoughtful, community-led process. We start by analyzing evidence-based data to understand the needs of families, from building financial stability to accessing reliable childcare. Using this information, we bring together residents, business leaders, nonprofit partners, and policymakers to address root causes, coordinate strategies, and prioritize programs that will have the greatest impact. Each grant is carefully evaluated by our Steering Committee, ensuring resources are directed effectively to local programs.
