Roslyn Giles
Born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi, Roslyn Giles is a weeknight news anchor and investigative reporter at WTVM News Leader 9 and WXTX FOX 54.
Roslyn’s career began at WXVT-TV 15 in the early 1990s, where she brought the news to the people who knew her best in her hometown. Reporting, anchoring, and hosting a public affairs show were just a few of her responsibilities. In 1996, she made a move to Columbus, Georgia, joining the CBS affiliate, WRBL-TV 3, as the Opelika bureau chief reporter. Her dedication and hard work paid off when she and her news team received an Associated Press Award for Best Coverage during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
After nine years of reporting and anchoring, Roslyn decided to explore a new path—real estate. However, her separation from TV was short-lived. Three years later, she returned to her first love as a freelance reporter at her previous station in Columbus. She secured a full-time reporting position at WTVM News Leader 9 in August 2009, which later led to a weekend anchor position. Roslyn’s reporting earned her an Outstanding Media Award from the Georgia Marshal Network in 2014.
In August 2016, Roslyn was promoted to anchor of the 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts on WXTX. In 2021, Roslyn received a merit award from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters for Best Pandemic Coverage.
But Roslyn’s journey didn’t stop there. In 2022, Roslyn added additional anchor duties as she became the face of a brand-new 7:30 p.m. newscast on WTVM. That same year, Roslyn joined the WTVM Investigates team—an in-depth reporting approach that brings community issues to the forefront.
Roslyn has covered several big stories in her career, including the 2019 Democratic Presidential Debate at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s re-election victory. Her notable interviews include Shaquille O’Neal, Gladys Knight, MC Hammer, GMA’s Michael Strahan, hosts of Couples Court with the Cutlers, Fort Moore’s Former Commanding General Gary Brito, showcasing her versatility and dedication to storytelling.
Roslyn holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in English from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Before graduating, she also participated in USM’s international studies program at the University of The West Indies in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Her passion for keeping people informed, public speaking, reading, and shopping shines through in her work.
Beyond the newsroom, Roslyn actively serves her community. She has been part of numerous boards, including Safe Kids of Columbus and the Media Advisory Board for Shaw High School’s Mass Communication department and is a highly sought after public speaker and emcee for community events. Her dedication extends to her family as well. She is married to Tracey Giles, and they have three children: Trey, Trevor, and Mya.
